The wonderfully gritty and patchy surface of the banana, I've realized, is not a mere result of Warhol's silkscreening, but rather the result of nature itself. What then, does this ink do to the banana? It allows us to question what subjects are worth sketching and what subjects are worth photographing instead due to the quality of its raw form.
